How to Sponsor an Animal

Home for Life® has many wonderful animals in need of sponsors. Perhaps you are interested in a particular breed of dog or cat living at our sanctuary.

We would be happy to help you select an animal for sponsorship.

To sponsor an animal, fill out our online sponsorship form or contact us at:

Sponsorship Basics

When you choose a cat or dog for sponsorship, you will receive regular updates on the goings-on of your pet, as well as occasional photos. You may even wish to visit your cat or dog to get to know them in person.

Sponsorship costs $300 a year, or $25 a month. For pet owners wishing to surrender a pet, different sponsorship rates may apply.

Our sponsors come from near and far...

Georgina Hughes of Lancashire England was visiting our web site when she found Phoebe.

Phoebe reminded Georgina of Amber, a cat she once had who also had club feet. Georgina fell in love with Phoebe and sponsors her today!

Sponsor an Animal

Home for Life® guarantees all residents the best care available, for life. Our sponsorship program was developed as a way to give our supporters a closer connection to the animals that benefit from their generosity. Through your sponsorship, you will be helping us to continue providing a secure, healthy environment where animals who were formerly abused, neglected, and rejected can thrive and begin again to participate in the joy of being that is the right of all living things.

Why sponsor an animal?

On average, it requires $202 per month to care for an animal at Home for Life® sanctuary. The cost covers salaries for employees, food, vet care and grooming, heat and lights and facility maintenance. Sponsorship provides us with a regular flow of funds to support the promise we've made to these special animals. At current sponsorship rates, it takes eight sponsors to fully cover the cost of care for the average sanctuary resident.

We're happy that 50% of Home for Life's® animals have at least one sponsor! However, only 25% of them are fully sponsored to cover their monthly cost of care.

Funds aren't the only reason we offer animal sponsorship. Sponsorship also supports our mission to foster empathy and strengthen the bonds between people and other living things. The stories on this page are a testament to the value that sponsorship can bring to both the animals and their sponsors.

Sponsorship Stories

Sponsorship is a great idea for businesses and organizations!

Thanks to The New Yorker's Nina Grunde (who is also from Texas originally) for coordinating the sponsorship of this sweet dog. Nina also coordinated the staff photo shown here!

Sponsorship is a family affair

St. Paul attorney Sandra Boehm wanted to teach her six young grandchildren about compassion for our animal friends, and at the same time, pass on her great love for all dogs.

She asked each of her grandchildren to choose one of Home For Life's® resident dogs for sponsorship. The kids visited the sanctuary with their moms and grandmother, and spent a fun afternoon choosing their dogs.

Every month, Home For Life® sends each grandchild a picture of their dog, along with an update on the dog's activities and general sanctuary news.

One Thanksgiving weekend, Sandra, her husband Tom, daughter Kathleen and the six grandchildren came out to visit their dogs. The children brought their dogs early Christmas presents and posed for pictures with them. Everyone had a great time!

We are so grateful to Sandra for her generous support of the sanctuary, and for her sponsorship of six of Home For Life's® dogs. We commend her for the creative way she has found to pass on to her lucky grandchildren her legacy of love for all animals.
