compared to your mission... I never gave up
and I hope you never do.
Thanks again, –Aaron Gertz

senior citizen (chocolate Lab) in my

my pocket to give to Java when I would meet
him on walks. I will miss him, but not as much
as his family does, I'm sure.

two homeless kitties from a local animal
shelter. Now, one year later, it's important for
me to continue to honor her memory. She truly

Earlier this year, we lost our dearest Carrie
(Susie) Lu, a sweet dog we adopted in
September, 2006. She was 10-years-old when
we took her home, but we wanted to make the
last years of her life filled with love.
Our dog story began in 1995 when we rescued our first dog, Kerry, a beautiful American Eskimo
from my Mother-in-law's neighbor. My mother-inlaw
passed in 1999 and her 3 dogs came to live
with us. Then, we fell in love with Big Mack who
lived on the OTHER side of my Mother-in-law.
Big Mack was the reason I had first heard of
Home for Life®. He was a challenge and most
likely not adoptable so we weren't sure if we
should keep him. Every time I thought about
driving him to Minnesota and dropping him off,
my heart would break. The rest is history. We lost
our boy April 3, 2006. Our time with him was also
short, but long enough to change us forever.
We decided to wait to rescue another dog and
have been doing some dog sitting. Bagel was
our latest guest. He was rescued by his people
when they were on vacation—someone left a
box of puppies in front of a store. Bagel found a
wonderful home and he is a great dog (we miss
him and his ball).
In hopes of helping in the future. Sincerely, –Laura Topping
