About Victoria Stilwell

Editor's note: Victoria Stilwell will be our guest at this year's Fall Gala. The information below is from Victoria's website at www.victoriastilwell.com.

Born and raised in Wimbledon, England, Victoria Stilwell is one of the world's most recognized and respected dog trainers. By serving as a judge in CBS' Greatest American Dog and as the host of the international smash-hit TV show It's Me or the Dog, Victoria has been able to share her insight and passion for positive, reward-based dog training with an ever-broadening audience.

Her two best-selling books, It's Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet and Fat Dog Slim: How to Have a Healthy, Happy Pet, have been widely praised, and they detail her favorite reward-based training philosophies: "think dog" and develop "clear, consistent communication between owner and dog."

Victoria is also committed to helping the cause of animal rescue and is heavily involved with rescue groups around the world, including those that increase awareness of the horrific practice of puppy mills.

Summer Sanctuary Tours

Sanctuary tour season begins the first weekend after Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day weekend. Tours run every Wednesday and Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

At right, Candy, Home for Life's official greeter, is anxious to make your acquaintance.

Reservations: Tours are reserved for donors and sponsors. Call or email to reserve your place.

Motorcycle ride and sanctuary open house

When: Saturday, August 22, 2009
Complimentary breakfast: 9:00 a.m.
Ride departure: 10:30 a.m.
Open house at Home for Life®: 12:30 p.m.

Breakfast and ride departure:
Afton Village Square Park, located in the city of Afton, Minnesota. The park is located on St. Croix Trail South, between 34th and Upper 34th streets, across from Selma's Ice Cream Parlor.

Join "Doc" Desio of St. Croix Harley-Davidson (pictured above with HFL's Harlequin Great Dane Dodi) for a motorcycle ride to benefit Home for Life®, followed by the annual Memorial Garden event and Blessing of the Animals at the sanctuary. Complimentary lunch will be served.

The event will begin with breakfast at Afton Village Square Park in the city of Afton, Minnesota. After breakfast, riders will depart for Home for Life® via the beautiful St. Croix Valley.

At the sanctuary, riders will join our Open House attendees for lunch, music, and our annual Memorial Garden ceremony. There will also be prize drawings for all who sign up to participate the day of the event.

Ride reservations: No pre-registration required. Donations to Home for Life® requested. All Bikes welcome.
