First Annual Doggone Early Dog Walk
The world's first indoor dog walk!

It's a walk in the park, at Nickelodeon Park! Bring the family, including the pooch, but leave the parkas at home, for a morning of indoor fun to support Home for Life®.
Your friendship with Home for Life® has its benefits! Who else would arrange a mass indoor dog walk in November? Even if you don't have a dog, come along anyway and enjoy the festivities. And to show your support, collect pledges from friends, neighbors and co-workers. For walk details and pledge sheet, see Walk FAQ below.
In addition to participating in this history-making indoor walk, attendees both human and canine will enjoy all kinds of goodies:
- Get photos taken with Santa.
- Listen to holiday music while you browse vendor tables and collect giveaways and samples.
- Enjoy free refreshments and goodies.
- Enter your pooch in contests. Prizes will be awarded for the oldest, youngest, smallest, and biggest dog, the best-dressed dog, and the dog who most resembles his or her handler.
- Meet dogs from Home for Life®.
- Preview The Art of the Dog—a display of one-of-kind dog statues and dog houses created by local artists. (The Art of the Dog will be on display throughout the holiday season at the Faces of Home For Life® in front of Nordstrom at Mall of America.)

The site enables all kinds of online activities including:
- Registration
- Building your own fundraising page, from which you can email others and collect pledges
- Spreading the word to your contacts
- Making a general donation, in the event that the walk is too doggone early for you

You can also register the day of the event at 7:00 a.m. Costs are:
- $25 per dog accompanied by up to two human companions. Additional humans are $25 each. Kids under 12 walk free.
- $25 per person for walkers without dogs.
Walk FAQ:
Are there rules for collecting pledges? No. Just record your sponsors'
pledge amounts, collect the funds, and bring them with you to the walk.

What should I bring? Dogs must have proof of vaccinations, be on a leash, and be accompanied by a handler age 18 or over.
You don't need to bring water for your dog; water dishes will be posted along the route.
Where do I report for registration and check-in? Please report to the EAST entrance of the mall for check-in on the day of the event.
How far are we going to walk? The formal dog walk will take place between 7:45 and 8:30. Walking parties can make one or more circuits around the park during that time.
One lap around Nickelodeon park is approximately ¼ mile, or 1500 feet.
What if my dog has to... answer nature's call? Volunteers will be posted along the route with scoopers.
Home For Life's Holiday Event: The Art of the Dog
When: November 23, 2009 – January 4, 2010
During mall hours. (The Mall of America is closed on November 26 and December
25.)
Where: Nordstrom's Plaza at Mall of America
Celebrate the holiday season and help Home for Life® care for over 300 special-needs animals who bring hope to at-risk people through our community outreach programs.
Visit our holiday village in Nordstrom's Plaza at Mall of America to see a fanciful display of dog-themed art and enjoy holiday goodies:
- One-of-a-kind dog statues and dog houses created by local artists and architects will be on sale. All sale proceeds benefit Home for Life's animals and our community outreach programs.
- Buy an ornament to decorate our holiday trees.
- Meet animals from Home for Life®, and the occasional local celebrity!
Stop by and say hello to our volunteers, pick up some free giveaways, and help us spread some holiday cheer!

Learn about Home for Life® and its mission and programs, and learn about volunteer opportunities. Accompanying animals like Sunny, pictured at right, on outreach visits is just one of many opportunities to give of your time with Home for Life®. At our November session, we'll prepare interested volunteers for helping at our dog walk and holiday display at Mall of America.
